When utilising non-water-soluble cooling lubricants with process-related atomisation in machine tools with capsuled workspace, fires and explosions could occur through e.g., tool breakage, collisions or mechanically triggered sparks. The overpressures that are generated as well as the emerging flames present significant hazards to both people and machines.
Therefore, the deployment of explosion venting equipment is recommended in accordance with BGI 719 „Fire and Explosion Protection on Machine Tools“.
The overload pressure and the flame front of an oil mist explosion are lead over a single or multi-vent flap into the housing of the Oil-Ex-Box, where the REMBE® special flame arrester absorbs the energy.
Compared to conventional venting flaps, the Oil-Ex-Box securely prevents flame escape from the machine tool’s pressure relief area. Thus, the deployment of the Oil-Ex-Box also allows positioning machines within areas with low ceiling heights or underneath cable lines. After a fire or explosion and in connection with a stationary fire-extinguishing system, it is possible to commence operations in a timely manner.
The Oil-Ex-Box is available in all sizes and thus, is the ideal protection system when retrofitting older machines.
