The retrofittable Microcell® weighing system based on semi-conductor strain gauges. They are suitable for storage silos on support construction, skirted silos or batching silos. The Microcell® weighing system gives the possibility to retrofit existing silos with a maintenance-free weight measurement system. The installation can be completed within a few hours without any major modification of the supporting construction. The patented Microcell® are simply bolted to the legs of the silo. The Microcell® senses the tension (deflection, compression) in the material and converts the voltage signal into a weight which is standardised and displayed by the controller unit.

Skirted silos are predominantly made of aluminium or stainless steel. However, the state of these silos present a problem if the installation of a gravimetric weighing system is requiped. The walls of the skirted silo are usually 5 to 8 mm thick. When weighing cells are placed selectively at different points, there is a high risk that the silo's own weight would deform the basis of the silo. That means, the silo will considerably be damaged.
The weighing system consists of eight semiconductor strain gauge sensors which are spread equally around the bottom of the silo. The sensor register - depending on the weight - the stress or compression of the material and convert it to a linear proportional strain signal. The downstream one-channel LESICOM® controller evaluates this signal considering the influences of wind and temperatur, etc.
The multi-channel LESIBUS controller manages complete silo equipments with just one device due the especially developed BUS-system.

A dual-axis strain gauge sensor that is bolted to the vessel's support structure, measuring changes in its stress. The second axis compensates for temperature variations, providing a cost effective, industrial strength weighing system. There is no need to empty the vessel or take it out of production in order to install or service.
